Building Fund

Dear Parents, Guardians and friends of the School and Pre-school,

 Over the last few years, we have completed the following projects across the school, which we are sure you will agree, create a more conducive learning environment for our children:

• Upgraded toilets
• New pipes for better plumbing
• Whole roof replacement and safety barriers installed
• New conservatory in Year R
• New Veranda in the Pre-School
• New playgrounds for Pre-School, KS1 and KS2

We are fortunate to be able to access The Building Fund available to Catholic Schools in our Diocese and it has proved to be a great asset enabling us to complete these enhancements to our buildings and grounds.

 I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Governing Body to request your help in supporting the Bishop’s Building Fund Appeal and to thank the 28 families who currently support us by contributing on a monthly or yearly cycle. Your contribution is invaluable.

While grants from the DFE are available for 90% of school building work, voluntary -aided school, like ours, have to raise the other 10% themselves.  In 2000 the Bishop of Portsmouth launched a fund to help all schools raise this money by asking every school and every parish to contribute to a central fund; this could then be distributed to schools needing building work. It is this fund that has supported our building improvement works listed above.

We are so pleased with our brand-new windows and doors throughout the school. If we did not have the building fund, this would have cost the school 10% of the total cost:  £35,000!

The amount that each family contributes really does make a huge difference.  Also, using the Gift Aid scheme, we are able to boost the donation by claiming 25% tax on your contribution if you are a taxpayer, at no further cost to you.  Contributions can be made by standing order (this is our preferred option), or by cheque.
